Car retrieved from Winooski River bank post parking lot mishap

A driver had a frightening situation where her car slid towards the Winooski River in Burlington. Emergency responders were called to the Chace Mill parking lot in Burlington Sunday evening. Witnesses told NBC5 News that the driver experienced a car mishap, leading her to slide down an embankment towards the river while attempting to exit her parking spot. Fortunately, the driver's Honda SUV came to a stop on the riverbank before reaching the water. The Burlington Fire Department and Burlington Police Department quickly arrived on the scene. A fire official mentioned to NBC5 News that the driver had already exited her vehicle when they arrived and managed to climb up an icy incline to the parking lot on her own. Witnesses reported that the driver seemed shaken but was dry and did not appear injured. Towing services were called to retrieve the vehicle from the riverbank and load it onto a flatbed hauler. A police officer mentioned that no criminal charges were expected to arise from the incident.
