Car plunges into frozen pond, three rescued: authorities
On Sunday, police in Glendale Heights rescued three individuals from a frozen pond after their car crashed into the water early in the morning. The incident occurred at around 1:35 a.m. near Burdette Avenue and Roberta Avenue. The car was found submerged in the water about 12 feet deep, with the occupants stranded about 20-30 feet from the shore. Additional officers and Glenside Fire officials were called to the scene to assist in pulling the vehicle out. Fortunately, the three individuals only sustained minor injuries and no one else was harmed. The driver was charged with a DUI. Chief George Pappas commended the officers for their swift and heroic response, emphasizing their dedication to ensuring the safety of Glendale Heights residents.
