Car crashes into office building in northwest Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Police in northwest Kansas say a car crashed into a office building Tuesday afternoon. The accident was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. on South Range Avenue, just north of Poplar Street on Colby's south side. Colby's Police Chief Jacob Hess said the driver of a Chevy Impala was heading north on Range Avenue, when for an unknown reason he crossed the southbound lanes, jumped the curb and the grass divider and crashed into the building. Police, Colby Fire, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office and Thomas County EMS, and a tow truck arrived at the scene shortly after. The car was pulled from inside of the building and the driver taken to the hospital for treatment. No one was inside of the building at the time of the crash. Hess said there is significant damage to the exterior wall and the inside of the building. No other injuries were reported. Police are still investigating what led up to the crash.
