Cal Fire works to rescue driver in head-on collision on SR-94

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Cal Fire officials said that they are actively working to rescue one person from a vehicle after a head-on collision on SR-94 Monday afternoon. Officials said they responded to the incident just after 3 p.m. near Little Tecate Road. Both vehicles were reportedly driving at a high rate of speed when they collided head-on. One driver had minor injuries and is expected to be released at the scene. The other driver is currently being rescued from their vehicle and will be airlifted to a hospital. Units are expected to remain on scene for the next several hours. Caltrans San Diego issued an alert on social media around 3:56 p.m. that SR-94 at Little Tecate Road was blocked in both directions due to the collision. All lanes were reopened several hours later.
