Border Patrol encounter results in Chicago woman's arrest
Less than two weeks ago, 60 Minutes covered the Trump administration's immigration enforcement actions in Minneapolis in an episode on Operation Metro Surge. Following the tragic death of ICU nurse Alex Pretti at the hands of a federal immigration agent, protests erupted in Minneapolis over the weekend. Despite initial claims by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem that the agent fired in self-defense due to Pretti holding a gun, videos contradict this narrative as it appears Pretti was only holding a phone. Similar doubt was cast on DHS statements during an incident in Chicago involving U.S. citizen Dayanne Figueroa, who was forcibly detained. Figueroa, traumatized by the experience, shared her harrowing story with 60 Minutes. She spoke out in hopes of standing up against such injustices, especially for her young son.
