Big Rapids police seek information in fatal crash

The Big Rapids Department of Public Safety is seeking information about a vehicle crash in February that resulted in one person’s death. Police are seeking witnesses to the crash, which occurred at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, in the 300 block of Perry Avenue. Police were dispatched to the crash and learned that an occupant of a vehicle had been ejected. The investigation found that a black 2020 Kia was traveling westbound on Perry Avenue when a white 2023 Ford Escape pulled out from KFC at 310 Perry Ave., according to reports. The Kia struck the Ford, causing one of the passengers in the Ford to be ejected. The drivers of both vehicles and other passengers were transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. The passenger who was ejected, a 90-year-old Stanwood man, was also transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
