BART service in East Bay halted due to traffic accident: CHP
A traffic incident has led to the closure of BART service in the East Bay today, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. BART service has been halted between the Castro Valley and West Dublin/Pleasanton stations due to an obstacle on the track, according to a post on BART's social media. The CHP informed KRON4 News that there was a collision involving a semi-truck and an unoccupied vehicle which had fallen off a tow truck, with one of the vehicles ending up on the BART tracks. The Alameda County Fire Department confirmed that the incident occurred near Eden Canyon Road in Castro Valley. Westbound lanes of I-580, east of Castro Valley Boulevard, are completely closed, as per CHP. At this time, there is no set timeframe for when the lanes will reopen. BART is advising commuters to consider using alternative transportation methods. This is a developing situation.
