Bakersfield girl, 17, killed in hit-and-run crash on Union Ave identified: coroner
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified a 17-year-old girl who was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Union Avenue on Saturday. Love Icelyn Dixon, 17, of Bakersfield was struck by a vehicle in the 3400 block of Union Avenue at around 10:45 p.m. July 18, according to the coroner’s office. Officers arrived to find Dixon in the roadway with injuries. She was taken to Kern Medical where she was pronounced dead at 11:08 p.m., officials said. The driver immediately fled the scene after the crash, according to the Bakersfield Police Department. According to investigators, Dixon exited a vehicle which was stopped in the #1 lane of northbound Union Avenue. She was struck by a vehicle traveling north in the #2 lane. Speed is not believed to be a factor in the crash and it is unknown if intoxication was involved. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact BPD at 661-327-7111.
