Auburn man possessed a controlled substance during multi-vehicle accident, sheriff’s office says

AUBURN, N.Y. (WSYR) -- A Cayuga County man was allegedly in possession of a controlled substance at the time of a car accident in April, authorities said. According to a statement from the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office, deputies were sent out at about 8:30 p.m. on April 24 to a multi-vehicle accident on Grant Avenue Road near Nelson Road in the town of Sennett. 41-year-old Jason Bergerstock, of Auburn, was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for non-life-threatening injuries from the accident. Deputies later concluded that Bergerstock was in possession of a controlled substance, but the sheriff's office did not specify what substance. A warrant was issued and he was arrested at about 6:25 p.m. on June 6. Bergerstock was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, the statement said. He was held for centralized arraignment and released with a return date to Sennett Town Court.
