At least 75 vehicles crash near Loveland Ski Area, sheriff’s office says

DENVER (KDVR) —  A crash involving at least 75 vehicles on Interstate 70 has resulted in major traffic delays on Tuesday. Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened at the eastbound on-ramp from Highway 6 to I-70 at mile marker 216, which is near Loveland Ski Area. The sheriff's office estimates that 75 or more vehicles were involved, resulting in injuries. Colorado State Patrol said that 19 people with "varying" injuries were transported to the hospital. The sheriff's office provided photos of the crash. The crash prompted lane closures on eastbound I-70, which is expected to last an additional 4-6 hours, CSP reported at 4:50 p.m. The left lane of I-70 westbound has also been closed for "medical staging purposes," CSP said. However, the right westbound lane remains open. CSP will be leading the investigation.
