Arrest made in Sacramento deadly hit-and-run crash that killed girl, injured man

An arrest was made in connection with the deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a girl and injured a man in the Oak Park area.The Sacramento Police Department said officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run crash Thursday before 8 p.m. in the area of 36th Street and 19th Avenue. Police said the collision involved a vehicle and a minibike. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 9-year-old girl and a man in the area. They were taken to the hospital where the girl was later pronounced dead. The man did sustain serious injuries, but is expected to survive. Police said the vehicle fled the scene before officials arrived. On Friday, police identified 30-year-old Miracle Meritt as the suspect. Meritt was arrested on felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charges. The crash remains under investigation.
