Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has returned to the UK after a tragic car accident claimed the lives of two of his friends in Nigeria. The accident occurred when the car they were in collided with a stationary truck on a highway near Lagos. Joshua, who recently won a boxing match against Jake Paul in Miami, sustained minor injuries and was discharged from the hospital, being considered fit to recover at home. The two friends who passed away, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, had close ties to Joshua as a coach and trainer, respectively. The driver of the car has been charged with reckless driving. Joshua has connections to Nigeria, having attended school there and holding Nigerian nationality.
