Anne Arundel County crash sends car into tree head-on, driver killed
Anne Arundel County police are investigating a fatal crash in Lothian.County police said officers were called around 7:35 p.m. Tuesday on Solomons Island Road near Ducks Lane for a crash.A preliminary investigation indicates that a pickup truck towing a dump trailer rear-ended a car that stopped suddenly. Police said the truck hit the car from behind as well as the driver's side.Both vehicles ended up in a wooded area alongside the road, where the car struck a tree head-on.The car's driver, Wanda K. Hartley, 68, of Dunkirk, was taken to a hospital, where she died.The truck's driver declined medical treatment.An investigation continues.
