“An unfortunate accident”: Henderson Flash in recovery mode after fire renders team bus useless

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- The Henderson Flash's upcoming baseball season now left with more questions than answers after a fire destroyed their team bus Thursday night. Thankfully no one was hurt during the fire, but it comes at a bad time for the flash with their season set to begin later this month. "We got 35 guys coming into town for the season in three weeks, so we are just trying to figure it out and go from there," says Henderson Flash Owner Clay Bolin. The bus caught on fire at a mechanic shop in Henderson, where the bus was getting yearly maintenance done for the long travel season starting May 29. The Henderson Fire Department was able to put out the flames quickly, preventing injury or damage to other nearby cars. The incident is still under investigation at this time. Bolin says the bus was insured by the flash which could go a long way in lessening the financial blow of the situation. All things considered, Bolin says he is glad no one was hurt and was overwhelmed by community outreach. "The city of Henderson, our community, our sponsors have been awesome all the years we have been here and last night ensured that they are here for us when we need them to be," says Bolin. The Flash say they are still trying to find out what is next in terms of transportation for the season but are confident they will have it solved by opening day.
