An Edwardsville family is asking for help after a motorcycle crash
A GoFundMe campaign was launched May 14 for an Edwardsville man’s family after he was injured in a motorcycle crash May 6 in Edwardsville. Andy Wenzel’s GoFundMe campaign is at https://gofund.me/3f5f9518d. Wenzel, a diesel mechanic in the Metro East, is recovering from his injuries. He said he had been released from the hospital. The crash caused multiple injuries that will require multiple surgeries at SLU Hospital, including one scheduled for May 18. He was taken to SLU Hospital for trauma care after the crash. He said he is not at liberty to say much about the crash. He and his family are preparing to move, and he and his wife have three children, ages 10 months, 2 1/2 years and 12 years. Wenzel said the GoFundMe campaign, which has a goal of $8,000, will help the family with moving costs, child care, utilities, groceries and other monthly expenses. He said it is not intended for medical expenses. “It will help us cover moving costs, child care, utilities and groceries and other monthly payments,” he said. Wenzel, who said he is the family’s main provider, did not know how long his recovery will take.
