All lanes reopened following accident on U.S. 231 in Jackson County shuts down all lanes
JACKSON COUNTY, Fla (WMBB) - All lanes have reopened after a single vehicle crash near Lake Point Road shut down all lanes of U.S. 231 on Sunday. Just before 1 p.m., authorities were called to U.S. 231 near Lake Point Road with reports of a car going into the forest line. Only one vehicle is believed to be involved right now. According to Jackson County Fire Rescue, three people were in the car at the time of the accident. Two people were taken by a medical helicopter to local hospitals in critical condition. The other passenger was taken to a nearby hospital with no injuries. Jackson County Fire, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Florida Highway Patrol, Alford Volunteer Fire Department, and Compass Lake In The Hills Volunteer Fire Department all responded to the accident. Both soundbound and northbound lanes have reopened as of 2:25 p.m. This is a developing story; we will have more information as it becomes available.
