Albuquerque man arrested after fatal weekend crash

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – New Mexico State Police arrested 58-year-old Danny Sanchez on Sunday after a deadly crash with a motorcyclist Saturday night. Police said they believe alcohol to be a contributing factor in the crash. NMSP arrived on scene of the crash on I-25 northbound near Comanche in Albuquerque. On scene, police found an injured motorcyclist, identified as 24-year-old Keegan Thomas. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Police said Sanchez hit Thomas, causing him to be ejected from the motorcycle. NMSP said Sanchez didn't pull over until he realized his car was inoperable. Sanchez is facing charges including homicide by vehicle, aggravated DWI, and careless driving.
