(NEWS10) -- The Albany County District Attorney's Office announced that Kemaury Everett of Albany was sentenced on Tuesday to 15 years in state prison in connection to a 2025 fatal pedestrian crash. Everett, 19, pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter back in October. Everett previously admitted to hitting 93-year-old Charles Allendorph with his car near the intersection of Congress and Newark Streets in Cohoes on August 18, 2025. Everett further confessed to backing over Allendorph's body before fleeing the scene. Allendorph was taken to Albany Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. Albany Police located Everett at his home around Dove and Elm Streets later that day and took him into custody in conjunction with Cohoes Police. "He was a beloved member of his community, and will be missed by them," Assistant District Attorney Collin D’Arcy said of Allendorph. "A number of people who weren’t even involved in this case came out in support." Prior to his sentencing on February 17, Everett, who initially pleaded not guilty last August, reportedly issued an apology before Judge William Little and the court, saying "I'm sorry to the people who lost him."
