Aiken man dies after being hit by car, police investigating
(Aiken, SC) WJBF - Yesterday, Saturday February 21st, 2026 at approximately 10:41 am, the Aiken County Coroner’s Office responded to WellStar MCG Health regarding a death as theresult of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident. The victim, a 58-yr-old Aiken man was pronounced deceased at 09:56 am. According to the ACCO, on February 20th, 2026 at approximately 7:39 pm, the victim was a pedestrian in the roadway in the area of York Street Northeast and Rutland Drive in the city of Aiken, when he was struck by a 2015 Nissan Altima. The victim was transported to WellStar MCG Health by Aiken County Emergency Services where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification. Thanks to Eric Ramey, Chief Deputy Coroner, we know that the Aiken County Coroner’s Office along with the Aiken Department of Public Safety are continuing with the investigation. Toxicology analysis is pending, reported the ACCO.
