Accidents in Ohio due to snow squall
The Ohio Department of Transportation reported numerous accidents on state highways in Northeast Ohio on Monday, January 19, as a snow squall warning was in effect. Crashes continued into the afternoon with sheriffs' offices in Erie and Huron counties issuing Level 2 Snow Emergency and Portage and Richland counties declaring Level 1 snow emergencies due to hazardous road conditions. Reduced speeds were in effect on I-90 in the snowbelt region. One notable crash involved a semi-truck on SR-2 near mile post 1 in Erie County, resulting in road closure in both directions. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the accidents. Various lanes on Interstate highways were closed and reopened after crashes throughout the day.
