88-year-old man killed in Ontario Co. crash
EAST BLOOMFIELD, N.Y. (WROC) — An 88-year-old man has died following a motor vehicle accident in the Town of East Bloomfield in Ontario County. According to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the scene of the crash at 1:28 p.m. An investigation into the incident determined that a 2024 Tesla R3 was traveling westbound on Gauss Road when the vehicle left the roadway and is said to have drifted into a field. The vehicle is said to have continued west on Gauss Road before it struck a tree at 7020 Gauss Street. The driver, identified as James R. Weisbeck of East Bloomfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. The New York State Police, Canandaigua Ambulance, in addition to the Bristol, East Bloomfield, and Richmond fire departments, also responded to the scene. The area was closed between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. as authorities investigated and reconstructed the incident. The investigation into the crash and the cause of death remains ongoing.
