81-year-old woman killed in vehicle-pedestrian crash in Phoenix parking lot, sheriff says
An 81-year-old woman was killed Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle in a business parking lot in Phoenix, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said officers were dispatched at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in the parking lot of a business in the 4400 block of South Pacific Highway in Phoenix. First responders and bystanders attempted life-saving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. Her name is not being released “out of respect for the privacy of the decedent’s family,” the agency said. The driver, a 62-year-old Medford man, was driving a 2019 Toyota Tundra and remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, according to the release. The crash is being investigated with assistance from the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team, a multiagency unit that includes the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Medford Police Department, Ashland Police Department and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. The sheriff’s office said no further details will be released at this time because the investigation is ongoing, and more information is expected as it continues. The sheriff's office also noted that this is a Phoenix Police Department case.
