76-year-old motorcyclist fatally injured in Shasta County crash
(FOX40.COM) — Authorities have identified a motorcyclist who died following a crash on Friday evening near Interstate 5. According to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, the decedent was identified as Monica Marie Martin, 76, of Guntersville, Alabama. Authorities said her next of kin has been notified, and a postmortem examination has been completed. SCSO reported that the county's coroner's office was dispatched at about 6:33 p.m. to Mercy Medical Center, where the rider had been pronounced dead after a single-vehicle motorcycle collision. The sheriff's office said the crash occurred earlier that evening on northbound Interstate 5 near the Knighton Road offramp. The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol and the Shasta County Coroner’s Office.
