75-year-old man killed in deadly crash reported in northern Kansas

WASHINGTON COUNTY (KSNT) – State troopers worked at the scene of a deadly crash on U.S. 36 Highway Wednesday afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol told 27 News that its personnel were at the scene of a deadly crash in Washington County. KHP later reported that the crash victim is 75-year-old Marvin D. Ost of Menifee, California. Ost's vehicle was traveling eastbound on U.S. 36 before crossing the center and colliding with a 2003 Peterbilt. The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the KHP. The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) reported the crash through KanDrive.gov around 10:20 a.m. on May 13 on U.S. 36 just east of where it intersects with Arrowhead Road. The KHP said two vehicles were involved in this crash and that further information will be released following family notifications. KDOT reported the highway was closed for several hours Wednesday as first responders worked at the crash site. For more local news, click here.
