The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said a 27-year-old was driving a Nissan Altima eastbound on Tampa Road approaching St. Petersburg Drive around 4:42 p.m. on April 30 with a 6-year-old and a 4-year-old in the car. Meanwhile, a 52-year-old in a Tesla Model 3 was facing westbound in the turn lane on Tampa Road to go south onto St. Petersburg Drive. Investigators said both drivers entered the intersection at the same time, colliding in the middle. All four were taken to a hospital. The 6-year-old died on Wednesday. Investigators said they believed speed was a factor in the crash, but did not say how fast the drivers were going, nor whether any charges would be filed. The crash remains under investigation.
