56-year-old woman charged in deadly motorcycle crash

A woman has been charged after a crash left a motorcyclist dead in Asheville, North Carolina, earlier this month.Around 4:23 p.m. on Feb. 13, officers with the Asheville Police Department responded to a collision at the intersection of New Leicester Highway and Eliada Home Road in west Asheville.The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2024 Kawasaki ER650 motorcycle operated by 27-year-old Tylor Russell Holzhauser was traveling southbound on New Leicester Highway approaching the Eliada Home Road intersection when it struck a 2013 Toyota Prius that was attempting to turn left from Leicester Highway onto Eliada Home Road.As a result of the collision, Holzhauser was ejected from the motorcycle and died before first responders arrived.Authorities said that New Leicester Highway was closed for over an hour while officers worked the scene.Keep up with what's happening around our area by downloading the WYFF News 4 app on the App Store or Google Play.Following a thorough investigation and consultation with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office, the driver of the Prius, identified as 56-year-old Jennifer Louise Saylorhas been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and unsafe movement.Saylor was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $5,000 bond.Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact APD at (828) 252-1110.
