ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Highway Patrol said two people were killed in a crash that occurred early Saturday morning in Zephyrhills. Just after 4:30 a.m., a Nissan Ultima was traveling north on Eiland Boulevard while a Hyundai Santa Fe was approaching from the opposite direction. The Nissan was being driven by a 30-year-old man, with a 20-year-old woman and 4-year-old boy, all from Dade City, as his two passengers. A 43-year-old man was driving the Hyundai with three passengers: a 40-year-old woman, 74-year-old man, and 75-year-old woman. The four people in the Hyundai were all from Zephyrhills. South of Handcart Road, the Nissan entered the southbound lane and collided "nearly head-on" with the Hyundai, FHP said. The 4-year-old boy in the Nissan and the 40-year-old woman in the Hyundai were both killed in the crash. The other six victims were transported to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
