4 killed in Arizona after helicopter collides with recreational slackline
A tragic incident occurred in Arizona on Friday when a helicopter crashed into a recreational slackline spanning more than half a mile across a mountain range, resulting in the deaths of four individuals. The Pinal County Sheriff's Office received reports of the crash around 11 a.m. near Telegraph Canyon, south of Superior. Among the victims were the 59-year-old pilot, a 22-year-old woman, and two 21-year-old women. Initial findings suggest that a slackline, measuring over one kilometer in length, was in place when the helicopter hit a section of it before plummeting into the canyon. Recreational slacklining involves balancing or performing tricks on a narrow webbing between two points, such as trees. The purpose of the slackline and whether it was authorized remained unclear. The helicopter departed from Pegasus Airpark in Queen Creek, about 30 miles west of Superior.
