FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is currently investigating what led to a 4-car crash early Saturday morning on I-95 North in Fayetteville. Troopers on scene told CBS 17 that multiple people were injured and at least one person died in a crash that involved a charter bus, an Amazon van, a pickup truck and an SUV around 2:45 a.m. on I-95 North at mile marker 63. At the scene of the crash, our crew saw the different types of vehicles sprawled across the highway, as well as several passengers on the charter bus being evaluated by emergency medical personnel for injuries. Troopers told CBS 17 at the scene that the driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. An alert from the North Carolina Department of Transportation was sent to driver notifying them that I-95 North will remain closed until 9 a.m. NCDOT asks drivers to detour and take Exit 61 and turn left on Wade-Stedman Road. After taking US-301 North, drivers can get back to I-95 North.
