3 injured in head-on crash on US-460 in Southampton Co.
SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Three people were injured after a head-on collision on US-460 in Southampton County near the Sussex County line Friday afternoon, the Southampton County Sheriff's Department said. Two people were flown to the hospital and another person was taken by ambulance, the sheriff's department said. Sheriff's deputies and Virginia State Police responded to the crash at 4:40 p.m. on US-460 near Drews Avenue. When they arrived, they found a head-on collision with two sedans and three people involved. The sheriff's department said the sedan traveling in the westbound lane went into the eastbound lane when the head-on collision took place, early reports indicate. The cause of the crash is under investigation. All four lanes of traffic were closed as a result of this crash, but they have since reopened, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
