3 injured in early morning pickup vs UTV crash
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) - Three people were hospitalized in an early morning crash in Brookings County. According to the Brookings County Sheriff's Department, at 1:12 a.m. Sunday, Brookings County first responders were dispatched to a report of an injury accident on 473rd Ave, near 201st Street, northwest of White, SD. A pickup was traveling north on 473rd Ave at the same time a UTV was traveling south. The driver of the pickup stated that when he noticed the UTV approaching, he attempted to avoid a collision. The two vehicles collided in the roadway, and the UTV came to a rest in the ditch. The three occupants of the UTV were all transported to the Brookings Hospital for evaluation and treatment of their injuries. The extent of those injuries is unknown at this time, the Brookings County Sheriff's Office said. The driver and passenger of the pickup were not injured. The crash remains under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
