3 injured after car crashes into tow truck in Colonie
COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Three people were sent to the hospital on Friday after a car crashed into a tow truck and a disabled vehicle in Colonie, according to New York State Police. The incident reportedly occurred on I-87 southbound. Police were dispatched to the scene just before about 11:55 p.m. following a report of a three-car crash. A subsequent investigation reportedly found that a tow truck was stopped on the western shoulder and preparing to load a disabled vehicle when another southbound car traveled partially onto the truck bed and rolled off the left side into the roadway. The tow truck operator as well as the driver and passenger of the disabled car were standing outside of their vehicles at the time of the crash, police said. They were reportedly hit by crash debris and taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. State Police said the driver of the other vehicle was arrested for driving while intoxicated and other vehicle and traffic law violations. He recorded a 0.08% BAC and was issued tickets returnable to the Colonie Town Court before being released, according to authorities.
