3 dead, 1 injured in head-on crash in Franklin County
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. - Three people were killed, including a 10-year-old child, and another person was injured in a head-on crash Monday night on Highway 100 in Franklin County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the crash occurred around 8:45 p.m. on westbound Highway 100 east of Dundee Road. It involved a Nissan Sentra and a Ford Explorer. The crash happened after the Nissan crossed the center lane and struck the Ford head-on, officials said. The impact caused the Ford to travel off the right side of the roadway and into a ditch. The driver of the Nissan, a 42-year-old woman, and a passenger in the vehicle, a 47-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. A 10-year-old boy in the Nissan was taken to St. Louis Children's Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials said. The driver and passenger in the Nissan were not wearing a seat belts at the time of the crash, according to MSHP. The child in the Nissan and the driver of the Ford were wearing seatbelts.
