28-year-old man dead after vehicle crash on I-64 in Goochland
GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 28-year-old man has died after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 on Saturday morning in Goochland County. On Saturday, June 6 at 8:11 a.m., Virginia State Police (VSP) troopers responded to I-64 westbound just after the Ashland Road exit due to a deadly single-vehicle crash. Officials stated that a 2016 Freightliner Columbia 120 was pulling a trash trailer along I-64 when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail. The Freightliner went past the guardrail and continued down the embankment, where it then struck several trees. The driver has been identified as 28-year-old James Russell Sprouse of Lignum. He was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sprouse was not wearing a seatbelt. VSP stated that the crash is still under investigation.
