22-year-old motorcyclist killed after crashing into Amazon truck in Huntington Beach
A 22-year-old Costa Mesa man was killed Saturday night after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into the back of an Amazon delivery truck in Huntington Beach, police said. The collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Beach Boulevard, just south of Slater Avenue, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department. Officers responding to the scene found the motorcyclist unconscious in the roadway. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The other vehicle involved was a gray Amazon delivery truck driven by a 27-year-old Santa Ana man, who was not injured, police said. According to a preliminary investigation, both vehicles were traveling northbound on Beach Boulevard when the Harley-Davidson motorcycle lost control and struck the rear of the truck. The Amazon truck driver cooperated with investigators, and police said impairment does not appear to have been a factor on his part. It remains unknown whether impairment played a role in the motorcycle crash. The investigation is being conducted by the Huntington Beach Police Department's Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team. Anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it is asked to contact Traffic Investigator Vishal Rattanchandani at 714-536-5231. No additional information about the victim has been released. KTLA has reached out to Amazon and will update this story if a statement is provided.
