20-year-old woman killed in southern Idaho wrong-way crash
CANYON COUNTY, Idaho (ABC4) — A 20-year-old woman was killed in a four-vehicle, wrong-way crash in Canyon County, Idaho, on Friday night, according to Idaho State Police. Shortly before 8 p.m. on Feb. 6, a 37-year-old Nampa, Idaho, man was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-84. He was driving a silver 2003 Ford F-350 and side-swiped a 2024 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by a 61-year-old Jacksonville, Florida, man. The Ford continued westbound in the eastbound lanes, fleeing the scene before crashing head-on into a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, according to Idaho police. The Hyundai was reportedly driven by a 23-year-old man from Ontario, Oregon. The passenger of the Hyundai was a 20-year-old Homedale, Idaho, woman. She was declared deceased on scene. Additionally, a silver 2019 Honda HRV driven by a 23-year-old Nampa, Idaho, woman and a 20-year-old Ontario, Oregon, woman were involved in the crash. While the driver of the Freightliner was uninjured, all other people involved were taken by ambulance to local hospitals. All eastbound lanes of I-84 were closed for about four hours. The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, Meridian Police Dept., Canyon County Paramedics, Caldwell Fire Dept., and Idaho Transportation Dept. also assisted in the response. This crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police. No further information is available at this time.
