20-year-old faces reckless homicide charge, claims Canterbury Green shooting was an accident
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A man faces a reckless homicide charge for firing a stolen gun - which he claimed to believe was not loaded - ultimately killing a man in a Fort Wayne apartment. The charge was filed Wednesday against 20-year-old Nolan Kloer, who court records show is from Kendallville. According to Allen Superior Court documents, Kloer was the one to let police into the Canterbury Green apartment on the afternoon of May 13. Police described him as "out of breath and frantic." "He had his hands in the air and stated, 'he’s in my bedroom, he’s in my bedroom, it was a complete accident,'" police recounted in court documents. Investigators found a man on the ground with a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner identified the victim as Noah Price, 19. No one else was in the apartment when the shooting happened. Kloer told police he believed the gun wasn't loaded because of an interaction he claims led up to the homicide. Kloer said Price came to the apartment and, after 20 minutes, allegedly grabbed Kloer's gun and "dry fired" it multiple times, according to court documents. Kloer took back his gun and claimed Price asked him what he'd do if there was an intruder. Kloer allegedly demonstrated by pointing the gun at the victim, saying "I'd do this," and pulling the trigger. Kloer told police he believed the gun would dry fire as it supposedly did when Price allegedly had it. Investigators noted in court documents the Glock they found had a live round in the chamber and two rounds in the magazine. Kloer was booked into the Allen County Jail upon Wednesday's case filing.
