2-year-old dies after Southeast Kansas farm accident
JOPLIN, Mo. (KSNF) — Authorities confirmed on Wednesday that a young child died after an accident on a rural southeast Kansas farm about 2.5 miles northwest of Elsmore. The Allen County Sheriff's Office said it received a call on Monday evening about a 2-year-old who was backed over by a truck. The parents were on their way to the hospital with the child. The dispatcher worked with the parents, and they made it to about 3 miles east of Humboldt, where they met an ambulance. First responders transported the girl the rest of the way to Allen County Regional Hospital. She was later flown to Children's Mercy Hospital, where she died. Deputies are investigating, but they do not suspect foul play at this time, with the sheriff's office calling the girl's death a "tragic farm-related accident."
