2 students dead, 1 injured after a early Sunday morning accident, FISD cancels Monday classes

FRITCH, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The communities of Farwell and Texico are mourning the loss of two students following a tragedy that also prompted the cancellation of classes on Monday in Farwell. Two students were killed, and another was hospitalized following an accident early Sunday morning, according to a Texico Municipal Schools Facebook post. Texico Municipal Schools shared the following post from the State Line Tribune regarding the incident: Farwell ISD announced Sunday that schools will be closed for all students on Monday due to the incident. District officials said the school gym will be open from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for students who wish to speak with a crisis counselor or school counselor. "Please keep everyone in your prayers," the FISD said in a message shared with families. In a separate statement, Texico Municipal Schools confirmed one of its students died, expressing condolences to the family. "The Texico School community is heartbroken by the loss of one of our students. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Miranda family and all who loved this student," the district said. Officials added that the counselors will be available at school this week for students and staff as we support them during this difficult time.
