2 hospitalized in wrong-way Ventura County crash

Two people were hospitalized after a wrong-way collision in Ventura County. California Highway Patrol officers responded to the early morning crash along Vineyard Avenue (SR-232), just east of Perello Ranch Road, in Oxnard on June 1. A preliminary investigation revealed that a driver in a Tesla sedan was traveling on Vineyard Avenue when they veered into the opposite lanes and collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota SUV. Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles and rushed to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries. The Tesla driver was only identified as a 32-year-old Oxnard resident. The Toyota driver was a 33-year-old Camarillo resident. Authorities did not release their names. Although the cause of the crash remains under investigation, authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs appears to be a factor. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call Officer B. Roberson at 805-662-2640.
