2 hospitalized in 2-vehicle Urbana crash, part of Lincoln Ave. closed

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) -- Two drivers were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Urbana Saturday afternoon, and part of Lincoln Avenue is currently closed. In a news release, the University of Illinois Police Department said officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of South Lincoln Avenue in Urbana at around 12:30 p.m. for the report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, officers observed a motorcycle and an SUV with apparent damage. As a result of the accident, the motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, Illinois State Police is conducting traffic crash reconstruction. Additionally, southbound Lincoln Avenue is currently closed between Windsor Road and St. Mary's Road until further notice. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
