2 dead in Vermilion Twp. crash
VERMILION TWP. — Two people are dead after an early Friday morning crash in Vermilion Township. Just after 2 a.m., first responders were called to the 11400 block of W. Lake Road (U.S. 6) in Volunteer Bay for the report of a single-vehicle crash. A person who called dispatchers said there were two people in the vehicle and they were not moving. The caller also stated that the airbags deployed. The driver and a passenger suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The car, a sedan, was westbound on West Lake Road when it failed to negotiate a slight curve to the left, went off road to the right and struck a tree. West Lake Road was closed between Poorman and Barnes roads for about two hours. Interstate Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
