2 dead, 1 injured in Kings County crash, CHP says

HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two people were killed and one person was injured after a three-vehicle crash near Laton in Kings County late Wednesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP says around 11 p.m., officers respond to the area of 12 ½ Avenue, south of Douglas Avenue.  Investigators say a man was driving a 2022 Dodge Charger northbound in the southbound lane of 12 ½ Avenue, south of Douglas Avenue, at a high rate of speed.  At the same time, CHP says a man was driving a 2017 GMC Sierra northbound in the northbound lane of 12 ½ Avenue, at a high rate of speed, directly to the right of the Dodge.  A woman who was driving a 2012 Mitsubishi Galant southbound in the southbound lane of 12 ½ Avenue, approaching the Dodge. CHP says the driver of the Dodge saw the Mitsubishi approaching head-on and turned right, directly into the GMC. The right side of the Dodge crashed into the left side of the GMC.  After, the Dodge also hit the Mitsubishi on the left side. The impact caused both the Dodge and the GMC to go into a dirt field. The GMC overturned, and the driver and two passengers were ejected. The driver and one passenger died, CHP said. The remaining passenger had moderate injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center. The drivers of the Dodge and Mitsubishi were treated on scene.
