2 crashes occur miles apart in Mountain Green, 1 seriously injured
MOUNTAIN GREEN, Utah (ABC4) — Two separate crashes occurred within a few miles of each other at around the same time in Mountain Green on Friday, according to the Mountain Green Fire Protection District. "Beautiful sunny day today before the storms, dry roads, and two car wrecks within 3 miles of each other, 10 minutes apart," the fire district said in a release. Authorities responded to the first crash on I-84 Westbound. The driver reportedly drove into a rock escarpment at "freeway speed" near a power plant. The driver was trapped, the fire district said, but first responders were able to pry the door open to gain access to them. Additionally, a nurse had stopped at the scene to provide medical care prior to medical personnel's arrival. The driver was taken to the hospital via ambulance with life-threatening injuries. While on scene for the first crash, fire district personnel were alerted to a rollover crash on I-84 Eastbound near mile marker 93. Firefighters were released from the westbound crash to respond to the eastbound crash, which had occurred only three miles away. They arrived on scene to find a pickup truck with a rolled travel trailer that had jackknifed. No injuries occurred in this incident. No further information is available at this time.
