18-year-old firefighter killed in off-duty crash in Clermont County
An 18-year-old firefighter has died after an off-duty crash in Clermont County Monday.It happened around 12:20 p.m. when troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a crash along State Route 131 near Dry Run Road.According to OSP, a preliminary investigation revealed a motorcyclist was traveling eastbound when they struck a 2017 Ford Escape from behind that was slowed in traffic.The collision caused the motorcyclist to travel left of center and hit another vehicle, a Volkswagen Routan, that was stopped in traffic in the westbound lanes of the roadway.The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.He has been identified as 18-year-old Wyatt Fisher, from Blanchester, Ohio. Fisher was a firefighter with the Stonelick Township Fire Department.The department shared a statement mourning his loss."Wyatt’s unexpected passing has left an immeasurable void within our department and throughout the community he so proudly served," the statement reads. "Wyatt exemplified what it meant to serve others. Whether answering emergency calls, supporting his fellow firefighters, or lending a helping hand whenever it was needed, he carried himself with compassion, humility, and dedication. His commitment to protecting our community reflected the very best of the fire service."Fisher was also a cadet with Wayne Township Fire and EMS and a graduate from Clermont Northeastern schools, where he had recently become an assistant coach for the boys soccer team. "In addition to his dedication to our students and athletes, Wyatt served our broader community as a member of the local fire department. His passion for service, his leadership, and his character made him an exemplary young man, and his absence will be deeply felt across the entire district," the district shared in a statement.
