17-year-old killed in crash on Highway 49 in Jackson
JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - A 17-year-old was killed during a crash on Highway 49 in Jackson. The crash occurred on Highway 49 at Cynthia Road around 9:30 p.m. on May 30, 2026. According to Jackson police, a gray 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling south on the highway when a white 2023 Honda Accord traveling west on Cynthia Road crossed into the Mitsubishi's lane of travel. The two vehicles collided. Police said the 17-year-old female passenger in the Honda received fatal injuries. She has not been identified. Investigators said the 18-year-old driver of the Honda was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Another passenger, a 15-year-old male, was also transported to a hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Mitsubishi was also transported for evaluation after police said the driver reported being in pain. The investigation is ongoing.
