16-year-old killed, 18-year-old hospitalized after Carroll County crash: OSHP

ORANGE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a crash in Carroll County left one teen dead and another seriously injured on Tuesday morning. The crash happened along County Road 52, north of County Road 52A in Orange Township just before noon. According to investigators, a 2007 Pontiac Torrent was heading southwest on County Road 52 when it went off the right side of the roadway, hitting a ditch. Investigators said the SUV then went airborne before crashing into an embankment. The driver, an 18-year-old Bowerston resident, was taken to Mercy Hospital in serious condition. The passenger, a 16-year-old Carrollton resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. State troopers said neither teen was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred. The deadly crash remains under investigation at this time.
