12 Hurt In 3-Car Crash Across From White Manna In Hackensack, Officials Say

A dozen people were injured in a late-night three-car crash at a Hackensack intersection, officials said. Engine 4, Rescue 1, and Deputy Chief Christensen from the Hackensack Fire Department’s 3rd Platoon responded to the intersection of Passaic Street and River Street at approximately 11:45 p.m. on a reported three-car motor vehicle accident with multiple injuries, according to Fire Capt. Kurt Nemeczek. The crash occurred across from White Manna and involved a 2016 Chevy Trailblazer, a 2007 Chevy Tahoe, and a 2017 Dodge Grand Cherokee, Police Chief Michael Antista said. Initial reports indicated that there were nine reported injuries in the 11:50 p.m. crash, Antista said. He was not immediately able to verify the exact number because the report had not yet been finalized, and said only that there were multiple non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Trailblazer was a 43-year-old Fairview man, Antista said. The Tahoe driver was a 49-year-old Bergenfield man, and the Dodge driver was a 30-year-old Hackensack man, he said. Vehicles were stabilized and a precautionary hoseline was stretched, Nemeczek said. A total of 12 patients were assessed and treated by the Hackensack Fire Department and EMS at the scene, according to Nemeczek. Multiple parties were transported by BLS and ALS to area hospitals for further care, he said. Quick action by on-duty fire crews working with the Hackensack Police Department and EMS to secure the scene and triage numerous patients allowed all patients to be transported to area hospitals to receive further care, Nemeczek said. No arrests were made as of press time, Antista said.
