10 cars crash in chain reaction on I-80 in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Ten cars crashed on I-80 in Salt Lake City Wednesday morning, according to Utah Highway Patrol (UHP). Just before 9 a.m. on May 20, authorities responded to five separate crashes involved 10 vehicles, in what police described as a chain-reaction due to traffic slowing. The crashes all occurred in the same area on I-80 Westbound, near the State Street exit, according to Lt. Cameron Roden, UHP. Westbound lanes were closed for around 15 minutes until police were able to move the damaged vehicles off to the right lane and shoulder. Medical personnel responded to the scene due to some minor injuries, but no one was transported to the hospital. No further information is available at this time.
