1 person dead in early morning McFarland crash
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- At least one person was killed in an early morning crash Thursday in McFarland, according to officials. According to McFarland police, the crash was reported at around 6 a.m. at Garzoli Avenue and Whisler Road. One person died in the collision, according to a release from the Kern County Coroner's Office. The coroner identified the person killed in the crash as Matilde Munoz Santillano, 64, of McFarland. Santillano was a passenger in a vehicle that collided with a truck at the intersection of Whisler Road and Garzoli Avenue, the coroner's release stated. Santillano was pronounced dead at the scene. Other details of the collision were not released, but McFarland police said it was investigating a "major traffic accident" and said there was heavy fog at the time.
